WHOIS is a tool that shows data about the site, such as who registered the domain, where they live, their phone number, etc. However, sometimes people register for domain protection so you can’t see all that info.
If you wanted to access this info to see some info about the owner, you can do it via a GUI in GNOME — the Network Admin.
Alternatively you could use the Terminal. Copy and paste this command into Terminal (and replace google.ca with the site you want to look up):
whois google.ca
That allows you to lookup the WHOIS info for Google or any other site.
Any questions?
